Dreams. It’s time to let go of some of those dreams. I was reading a devotional the other day that said, some of you have been crying out to God for somethings which were not meant for you, but He gave them to you anyway just as He gave Israel a king (1 Samuel 8). Go back and read that story; it’s eye-opening.
God reluctantly gave Israel what they wanted, but He also warned them what would happen to them by receiving what they had asked for. Do not be too swift to run to God and ask for things without first waiting on Him in prayer. Impatience is a major dream killer. God has so many good things for us. I am reminded of an image I saw once that told the story of a trap that so many have fallen into. God has bigger dreams for us than we could ever imagine, but we must trust Him enough to wait and to be willing to give up some things we hold dear. The dreams God has for you are so much greater than the ones we are holding on to. Trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Take a look back down memory lane at some of those things you asked God for and realized later that it was not His will, but yours. Remember the regret. It’s time to make better decisions based on the leading of the Holy Ghost, not on material things or things of the flesh. It’s time to let go! Everything you love and try to hold on to is not from God. I heard someone say once that God gave them a certain boyfriend. Sure, God allowed the two of them to meet, but God wants what’s best for you and this fella was not. He was not a Christian and he led her down a horrible path of destruction. Just because things are working for you does not mean you are in God’s will (Galatians 5:13). He gave you free will for a reason, not to glorify our flesh, but to operate in love towards God and others. Dreams are good. We all have dreams and goals, but God wants us to always trust Him to bring those to fulfillment in His time.
