Precision is one of God’s main attributes. Have you noticed that everything He tells someone to do is very precise? In Genesis 6, He told Noah how to build the ark. He described the process with great precision:
“Make yourself an [e]ark of [f]gopher wood; make in it rooms (stalls, pens, coops, nests, cages, compartments) and [g]coat it inside and out with pitch (bitumen). This is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits (450’ x 75’ x 45’). You shall make a [h]window [for light and ventilation] for the ark, and finish it to at least a cubit (eighteen inches) from the top—and set the [entry] door of the ark in its side; and you shall make it with lower, second and third decks” (Genesis 6:14-16).
What if Noah had decided to make some changes to this plan? What if he decided to use a different type of wood, make it one story instead of three, or not add a window? We would be missing a few species of animal, and possibly Noah and his family may not have survived. Think about that for a moment. Precision is key.
In Exodus God described the building of the Tabernacle and the holy vessels. He chose the exact people He wanted involved, “Then Moses said to the Israelites, See, the Lord called by name Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom and skill, with intelligence and understanding, and with knowledge in all [areas of] craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs to work in gold, silver, and bronze, and in the cutting of stones for setting and in the carving of wood, for work in every skilled craft. He has also put in Bezalel’s heart [the willingness] to teach [others the same skills], both he and Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan” (Exodus 35:30-34).
Later, in Exodus 36-40, He gave precise instructions for construction and creation. The precise dimensions of the building (L 15’x W 27), the exact color of the fabrics used (blue, purple, and red), the type of wood (Acacia), and the use of gold, silver, and bronze. The number of curtains, rings, and poles needed. All of these instructions were given and carried out precisely by those chosen, appointed, and anointed to do the job. God gave specific instructions to individuals and filled them with the anointing to complete the work.
God has not changed. He called each of us by name and gave us a specific anointing for what He created us to accomplish. Are you called to write, lead, direct, or speak? God provided the giftings and the precise instructions on how to accomplish your task.
Why are we not doing what God called us to do? Why are we stuck in limbo? Did we hear what He said, but are afraid to attempt our calling (Doubts)? Are we simply being disobedient? Some of you heard it partially because you had one ear open to God and the other ear toward the television (distractions); some of you heard but did not understand the importance of the exact instruction, so you tried doing it your way and failed (disasters).
Let’s get back to doing it God’s way. First be Willing, then Hear and Obey (Shema)! Notice he gave them a willingness to obey His instructions. He has given us the instructions to fulfill our destiny. If you are not sure what He said you can go back to Him and ask for clarification. He will not mind; He loves and longs to hear from you. GET MOVING!!
