Have you ever stopped to ask why you love what you love? Why certain people draw near to your spirit while others never quite fit? Why your mind moves toward the things it moves toward? These are not random details of your personality. They are threads God wove into you before you ever drew breath.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
God did not assemble you from spare parts. He designed you with intention. The passions that stir in you, the people you gravitate toward, the gifts that come easily to you, these are not accidents of nature. They are assignments from God; fingerprints of a purpose that existed before your birth certificate was ever written.
“ For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” (Ephesians 2:10)
The word “workmanship” here means masterpiece. You are not a rough draft. You are not a mistake He is still fixing. You are a finished thought of God, released into time to fulfill a purpose only you can carry.
This matters because so many of us spend years chasing an identity that was never ours. We were trying to be who someone else is, silencing the very things God placed in us to distinguish us. But your identity is not something you invent. It is something you uncover. Every inclination, every relationship, every desire God has knit into you is a clue pointing you back to His design.
Understanding why you are who you are changes how you walk. You stop apologizing for your uniqueness and start stewarding it. You stop comparing your assignment to someone else’s and start honoring the one only you can fulfill.
So today, ask the Lord to show you not just who you are, but why He made you this way.
The answer will lead you straight into purpose.

Father, thank You for forming me with intention. Forgive me for the seasons I doubted my design or tried to be someone I was never called to be. Open my eyes to see the purpose behind every part of who I am — my passions, my relationships, my gifts. Help me walk boldly in the identity You ordained before the foundation of the world. I trust that You do not make mistakes, and I receive who You made me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
