Accountability is about being responsible for fulfilling one’s duties and obligations. Discovering and fulfilling our purpose is an act of accountability. Biblical accountability begins with taking responsibility for our actions and making a conscious choice to allow God and others to assist us in accomplishing God’s plan for our lives.
God has given us a plan (Jeremiah 29:11) and a purpose (Jeremiah 1:5). We are not autonomous, in control of our own lives and destiny; God is in control. When He gives us an assignment, we are to follow the instructions if we want to see the outcome that God promised us.
I was reading one of my daily devotionals the other day. That particular day the devotional was about writing. I love to write; in fact, I write every day for several hours. I produce a lot of content. God has called me to write, and I am accountable to Him to do so.
The devotional stated, “I am calling chroniclers to rise up and write down what I show them in the day and what they dream at night. For I am releasing My anointing on a new generation of seers and scribes and they will be faithful to write down the visions, the visitations, and the views of the future I show them. I am calling the scribes to describe My heart, My ways, My precepts, My principles, My presence, My love, and more through the power of the pen and the anointing of My Spirit” (LeClaire, J., 2021, The Prophet’s Devotional).
God is looking for those who purpose to show they have accountability. Are you called to be one of God’s scribes? Grab your pen and start writing. Jeremiah 30:2 states, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, Write in a book all the words which I have spoken to you. Your words are not mere words on a page; they are a lifeline to those who are hurting, sick, and in despair. Practice accountability. Write!
