Contemplating means to think profoundly and at length, to meditate. I have been contemplating the top five events of 2021 in my life. I have completed so many things which at some point I thought were not possible, but with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). God is the author and finisher of my faith journey (Hebrews 12:2). Here are my top five 2021 moments in review. Storms: It’s Time to Prepare
Storms are inevitable. Prepare! The National Weather Service lets us know when storms are heading our way. Here in Oklahoma, we get tornado warnings during the spring storm season. Storms come and go. In the natural, we are encouraged to prepare for the storms coming our way. In the Spirit, we should also be prepared for storms. These spiritual storms may not come with heavy rain, winds, flooding, or tornados, but they can be just as devastating. What can we do to prepare? When the weather service tells us storms are coming we should have a plan of escape and Read More
Delays: Wait Patiently for the Lord
Delays happen. Delay is defined as postponing until a later time; defer, to cause to be later or slower than expected or desired. Our focus scripture is Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” I have been hearing the Lord say ‘Stop making excuses; stop procrastinating, stop playing Read More
Dreams: It’s Time to Let Go!
Dreams. It’s time to let go of some of those dreams. I was reading a devotional the other day that said, some of you have been crying out to God for somethings which were not meant for you, but He gave them to you anyway just as He gave Israel a king (1 Samuel 8). Go back and read that story; it’s eye-opening. God reluctantly gave Israel what they wanted, but He also warned them what would happen to them by receiving what they had asked for. Do not be too swift to run to God and ask for things Read More
LOVE: It’s an Action Verb
LOVE. There is a lot we can say about love. Depending on the Bible translation, you can find love mentioned between 200 and 600 times. God wants us to know all about LOVE. Not that feeling people get when they think they love someone; I am talking about God’s love. LOVE is a verb and requires action. It’s something God commands us to do. Let us love one another () because God is love. Happy Valentine’s day. On this day when we make an extra effort to let others know we love them, remember God is LOVE and He loved Read More
Boldness: Plans, Purposes, and Pursuits
Boldness. Be bold in your pursuits. It’s the end of January and as usual, God and I had a conversation about making plans for the coming year. We looked at my plans, purposes, and pursuits from 2020, and He gave me direction for 2021. One of my goals for this year is to publish a book about praying through the pandemic. Look for it later in the year. Boldness is a gift. Do not let the enemy steal this from you. God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible (2 Timothy 1:6-7). Read More
