God hates you. Have you heard that nonsense? There are six, no seven things God hates and you are not one of them (Proverbs 6:16-19). It’s like God starts every day with an agenda to make you as miserable as possible. No, God would not do that. He absolutely loves you (1 John 3:1). But what about all the things going wrong in your life? Not God. What about your lack of a job or money? Once again, not God.
I like milk. Really, I like milk, but unfortunately, milk does not like me. If I drink milk, it is guaranteed that I will be in pain in a couple of hours. Is it the milk’s fault, was the milk out to get me? No. I made a decision to drink it knowing it would cause me pain. Sometimes in life, we make wrong decisions which cause us to be in the predicament in which we often find ourselves. Then we ask God, ‘God why do you hate me? Why is this happening to me?’ I didn’t do anything wrong. Honestly, you may not have done anything knowingly, but sometimes we do things that activate circumstances which eventually come back to bite us. However, there are times when we knowingly do something wrong, hoping that there will be no consequences.
Years ago, I bought a new car without asking God if I should or what car I should buy. The payments were kind of high, but I thought I would be able to swing it. You ever been there? Well, after about 6 months of trying to ‘swing it’ I realized I could not afford it. I got behind on the payments, the finance company was calling threatening to repossess the car. I made a decision to take the car back to the dealership and drop it off. I thought that was a good ideal also, Not. So I was left without a car. God told me, “I did not tell you to go out and buy that car or any car. I had a car for you, not new, but sufficient for your needs”. But God, I said, ‘I wanted something new’. God said, “Then ask me for it, and then wait”. Lesson learned. Trust me.
So yes, God hates some things, but God does not hate you. He is not spying on you just waiting for you to mess up so He can hit you with a big stick. Not saying that He will not correct you because believe me, He will and sometimes (in fact most of the time) you are not going to like it. There are times when God hates the things we do, but He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). Learn to trust the God who loves you so much He was willing to make the greatest sacrifice of all, just for you. So ignore all those who say, God hates you. Hope you enjoyed this post. If so, please leave comments and share. Have a great week. I will be continuing with Deuteronomy, Jesus Who? on Saturday.
