LOVE: It’s an Action Verb

LOVE. There is a lot we can say about love. Depending on the Bible translation,  you can find love mentioned between 200 and 600 times. God wants us to know all about LOVE. Not that feeling people get when theyLOVE think they love someone; I am talking about God’s love. LOVE is a verb and requires action. It’s something God commands us to do. Let us love one another (1 John 4:7-8) because God is love.

Happy Valentine’s day. On this day when we make an extra effort to let others know we love them, remember God is LOVE and He loved us first (1 John 4:19). How much does God love us? Enough to send His son, Jesus, to die on a cross so that we might live (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). He loved us enough to want the very best for us. He loved us enough that He made sure there was a way for us to spend eternity with Him (1 John 5:13). That is the greatest LOVE of all; the LOVE that passes all understanding; the true LOVE that is not selfish, but puts all others before themselves.

LOVE like this is not easy. It will cost you, but that is the God kind of LOVE.
