Do you know the God of Restoration? Have you met Him and spent time with Him? Have you allowed Him into the broken areas of your life? Recently, I attended our monthly Fiction Function Book club and one of the ladies was telling us about a tree her husband had planted and lovingly cared for before he transitioned to heaven. At one point, the tree got struck by lightning and split into (See Fig. 1). She called her grandson, and they duct-taped the tree back together (See Fig. 2). She spoke to the tree and commanded the tree to live and not die. That it would not be like the barren fig tree. The tree is now growing and healthy (See Fig. 3). It is in a season of restoration.
Her story reminded me of how God lovingly cares for us, and then the enemy attacks us, and we are beaten down and broken. If we allow the enemy to keep us broken and in bondage, we will not grow up in the things of God. We will be alive but not walking in the abundant life God prepared for us before the foundation of the world. We need the Word to sustain us and give us newness of life. We need restoration.
The Word is our duct tape; it holds our lives together. Let the Word penetrate deeply into your broken and weary soul. If we allow the Word in, LIFE and LIFE more abundantly will come out. God heals the brokenhearted, binds up our wounds, and cures our pains and our sorrows (Psalms 147:3). Like the mended tree, with love and care, we can become whole. He is Jehovah El-Ashiyb, God of Restoration. Selah!
