I LOVE GOD’S WORD. Proverbs 30:5 says “Every WORD of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.” Psalm 91 is one of my favorite scriptures. I love every verse. When I think of all the times I have relied on this scripture; believe me, there are too many to count. The recent storms roaring through Oklahoma are a good example of how much I rely on this scripture. We’ve had night after night of tornados, torrential rain, hail, and high winds. I cannot be more convinced that God acts when we speak the WORD and not operate in fear, but in faith. I can tell you, I have seen storms jump right over my house and neighborhood when the weatherman was saying take cover because the storm is literally right outside of your house. The next statement from the weatherman was that the storm was now a mile away going in a totally different direction (within minutes). Not coincidence people, it’s prayer. Speaking the WORD into that situation and expecting God to perform His WORD.
A couple of years ago a co-worker and I were driving back from a conference. We left a little later than expected so we got caught in a full-blown, severe thunderstorm, including golf-ball sized hail. My co-worker was driving so I was free to concentrate on praying. The visibility was worst than poor, but I know my God would be true to His word. He watches over His WORD to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12); another one of my favorite scriptures. We came through the storm unscathed with no damage to the car, but with another testimony of how my God is always faithful. As we traveled through the storm that night two scriptures kept coming into my spirit. One from Genesis 22:5, Abraham went to offer up Issac to God as a sacrifice and he told his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” By faith, Abraham knew that God had a plan which did not include sacrificing his son. Thus, he told them that he and Issac (both of them) would come back. The second scripture which came into my spirit was Luke 8:22-25, Jesus tells the disciples to get in the boat and let’s go to the other side. Jesus falls asleep and a crazy storm blows in frightening the disciples. When the disciples wake him, Jesus speaks to the storm and then all is calm. Once again, God watched over His word to perform it. If Jesus said we were going to the other side, you can count on making it to the other side no matter what the circumstances. You can come through the storms unscathed, just speak the WORD. Don’t just hope that God will do, know He will. Word up!
