Over the past few weeks, I heard the Holy Spirit say, ‘People are in agreement with the wrong spirit and are taking on the offenses of others.’ The Holy Spirit said ‘Stop’, right now. Stop it.
Not long ago my pastor taught a sermon on taking on offenses. If someone does something to another person, we are not to take on that offense. It did not happen to us. Sure we can empathize with others, but we are not to take on their offense. I know sometimes that is hard because we all want to make sure people are being treated fairly. We as Christians should not try to make others take on our offenses. When someone hurts us or talks about us we should not go directly to Facebook or Twitter and start talking about it; hoping others will join in. Stop it; this is SIN. Proverbs 17:9 states, “He who conceals a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.” Study 2 Corinthians 6, especially verse 3, “We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.” Be partakers of Christ, not Satan.
Also, during this season there seems to be a lot of agreement with the works of darkness. I see this often as I read about our President. The news channels are literally crucifying the man, and I hear Christians agreeing left and right. Just because you are not in agreement with what he says or does, you definitely should not be opening your mouth and siding with the Pharisees. Use Christ as your example. Yes, I said Pharisees. They would be considered the news channels of today and at every turn they were talking about what someone else is doing wrong; of course, they were never wrong. I am not saying our President is great by any means, but any problem I have with him or his message I take to the War room, not the ladies bathroom and definitely not to Facebook.
Let’s get with the right program. Stop grieving the Holy Spirit and repent. Here is the really sad part. A baby or weak Christian will notice how you are acting and they will follow your example. I Corinthians 8:9 tells us, “But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.” Follow the example set for us in Ephesians 4:3, “Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful]”. Remember the weapons we use to fight should not come from our flesh, but from the mighty armor of God.
The Holy Spirit has been dealing with me to deliver this message for a while and I have not been obedient. I had to repent and do what I was told to do. Please stop and consider what or who you are agreeing with and stop taking on the offenses of others. May God richly bless you as you continue to pursue peace with all men (Hebrews 12:14).
