Tune-up needed? Run to the Creator (Colossians 1:16). We have been replacing a few of our electronic devices over the last few days. Some are very old; others are starting to act up. New items come with a warranty. These warranties are for a specific amount of time and with the warranty, you can return for repair or replacement if needed. This reminded me of how we are sometimes in need of repair and need to go back to our heavenly Father for a tune-up (Isaiah 40:29)
Have you ever been so exhausted you can barely stand, or so overwhelmed you could not see straight? Does your heart (spirit) hurt because of things you are seeing in the world and you need comfort? Has the enemy been throwing rocks at you? Do you feel as if you are standing on shaky ground? You need a tune-up. When your car needs a tune-up do you take it the jewelry repair? Of course not. You must take items to the manufacturer. In our case, it’s God. Our warranty does not expire. It is everlasting. His promise is He will not leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
If our spirits are damaged, we need a spiritual tune-up that God only can provide. Don’t take your spirit to the dentist for repair, the dentist did not manufacture you. Don’t take it to one of your friends who claim to have all of the answers, they don’t, and they did not create you. If you want your spirit repaired take it to the ONE, God our heavenly Father, who knew you before your born (Jeremiah 1:5). God had a plan when He created you. He knows everything about you. If you want to know your purpose; don’t ask Bob down the street, ask the creator of all things, God (Jeremiah 29:11).
One of my all-time favorite songs is Run to the Father. We all need to return to the Creator and Surgeon of the universe on occasion. He alone knows how to fix you. I want to share some of the lyrics from Run to the Father with you. Read these words of think about God’s call to you. It’s time.
I’ve carried a burden for too long on my own
I wasn’t created to bear it alone
I hear Your invitation to let it all go
I see it now, I’m laying it down
And I know that I need You
I run to the Father, I fall into grace
I’m done with the hiding, no reason to wait
My heart needs a surgeon, my soul needs a friend
So I’ll run to the Father again and again and again and again
My heart has been in Your sights
Long before my first breath
Running into Your arms
Is running to life from death
And I feel this rush deep in my chest
Your mercy is calling out
Just as I am You pull me in
And I know I need You now
I run to the Father, I fall into grace
I’m done with the hiding, no reason to wait
My heart needs a surgeon, my soul needs a friend
So I’ll run to the Father again and again
I run to the Father, I fall into grace
I’m done with the hiding, no reason to wait
And my heart found a surgeon, my soul found a friend
So I’ll run to the Father again and again and again and again
Don’t remain broken; don’t remain scared; don’t remain tortured or in shame. Run to the Father and get a tune-up (Matthew 11:28-30).
