Basics are those things which are fundamental in your Christian walk. Prayer, worship, love, faith, and giving. God is telling us to get back to the basics. Over the past few months I have felt like God is slowing things down. He is telling us to SLOW YOUR ROLL. It’s like a skier going downhill and as the momentum of the downward slop decreases, the skier starts to slow down as well. In this season, God wants us to get back to the BASICS of our faith. Spend more time in prayer and worship; increase your love walk (actively love, not just in words but in deeds); press into God for those things you want and need; and do not forget to give more.
Pressing into God and expecting Him to fulfill His Word qualifies you to receive. In my devotional today, the author said this about expectations: Expectations transform and position you from the masses who need miracles…to the chosen who receive them. How powerful is that? Don’t remain in the crowd who did not receive, be among the few who received. God is not looking for someone who has a need; He is looking for those who have the faith and determination to expect to receive. Here are some examples from the Word about expectations: The woman with the issue of blood and Jairus daughter (Luke 8:41-56) and the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:7-16).
Get back to the basics. Today is first day of the Winter season. Today can be a new season for you as well. Trust God in this new season to do everything He has promised. Even when things appear to be going badly, don’t react with negative words, speak words of faith. Allow God to do a work of transformation in your life. Slow your roll, and trust Him. He is faithful who promised (Hebrews 10:23).
