The Posture of Faith

There are seasons in life when the weight of our trials feels unbearable. We pray, believe, and trust God, yet circumstances seem to move in the opposite direction of our expectations. Doors close, relationships struggle, finances tighten, and health challenges arise. In those moments, it is easy to interpret our pain as defeat.

But as believers, we must remember that God’s perspective is different from ours.

The Apostle Paul understood suffering better than most. He endured imprisonment, persecution, shipwrecks, beatings, and countless hardships. Yet he never allowed temporary trials to define his future. Instead, he fixed his eyes on God’s promises and eternal purposes.

Paul wrote:

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” — 2 Corinthians 4:8–9

Notice what Paul does not say. He does not say the pressure is absent. He does not say the confusion has lifted. He does not say the pain is painless. He acknowledges the reality of the trial while refusing to surrender to its conclusion.

That is the posture of faith.

God never promised us a life without storms. He promised to be with us in them. Jesus Himself said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The storm does not signal His absence — it can become the very place where His presence becomes most undeniable.

Joseph was sold into slavery before he became a ruler. David was hunted before he was crowned. Lazarus died before he was raised. In every case, what looked like the end was simply the setup for God’s greater work.

Your trial is not your testimony — it is the beginning of it.

So if you are in a hard season today, hold on. Keep praying. Keep trusting. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Christ from the dead, and turned mourning into dancing has not forgotten you. He is working in ways you cannot yet see.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” — Romans 8:28

Your breakthrough is not lost. It is being prepared.
