Stand Firm, Therefore

Stand firm; therefore, (Ephesians 6:14) is a statement that we need to have at the top of our vocabulary. We need to turn this scripture into a daily affirmation: I am standing firm on the truth of God’s Word and holding my ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around my waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart). It’s been an interesting week for some of us, and it’s about to get more interesting. It’s time to stand on what we know to be truth (Remember, there are no versions of the truth). Dr. Martin L. King, Jr: Pursue Justice

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He lived according to the basic principles of goodness aligned with his faith. She had the courage to end the relationship to protect herself and her daughter. She did not want Read More

Birthday: Five More Years Pursuing Purpose

Today is my birthday, and I am going to repost a story from five years ago (with updates, of course). I was born on June 17, Father’s Day. I am not going to talk about Fathers; I am going to talk about my journey and why I do what I do. To do this, I am using one of the songs from the Hamilton Musical, Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.  The song starts like this: “Let me tell you what I wished I’d known when I was young and dreamed of glory. You have no control over Read More
