Cracks in your armor: Three ways to seal them

Cracks will appear in your armor from time to time. Our armor protects us from the attacks of the enemy. Where do these cracks come from? How do we become aware of these cracks? How do we fix these cracks? The Word of God admonishes us in Ephesians 6:10 – 17:

“Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.”

I often tell people, “Warfare is inevitable, you have to learn to fight.” In our Christian walk we need to be sure during our battles with the enemy that our armor is not cracked. We cannot allow ourselves to become complacent and distracted with things of the world and let our guard down. Remember, our enemy is surely watching our every move to determine if there are any cracks and if he can attach us.

Cracks appear for many reasons:
1. We step outside of God’s will
2. We walk in unforgiveness
3. We have unconfessed sin our lives
We become aware of these cracks when we see our prayers and not working. We are being beat down on every side and we begin to feel that God is no longer in our corner. So how do we seal those cracks? Here are three ways to seal those cracks:

1. PrayerEphesians 6:18 tells us to: Pray with all prayer and petition [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people. Pray for all of God’s people, not just for yourself. Sometimes the enemy can get to you from other people. So provide cover. We overcame with the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony.

2. Faith – Have faith in God or have the God kind of Faith. Trust God to do what His word says it will do. God said, “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; it will no return to Me void (useless, without results), without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). Faith is a very important part of your armor. Strengthen it and hold firm to it.

3. Repentance – We cannot please God if we refuse to acknowledge our sin. We may have sinned without even realizing it. Let’s be real, we don’t know everything; but the Holy Spirit does and He will convict you if you allow Him to do so. 1 John 1:9 tells us,  “If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. 10 If we say that we have not sinned [refusing to admit acts of sin], we make Him [out to be] a liar [by contradicting Him] and His word is not in us.” Do try and out smart God. He knows everything you are thinking before you think it. Do not act like Sarah and deny our thoughts or actions (Genesis 18:15). God already knows.
Let us get those cracks sealed and continue to fight the good fight of faith. We are needed in this battle.
