Decisions: Paths to Your Destiny

Decisions guide our lives. Have you ever made the decision to serve God? Or to stay active? What about the decision to eat healthily? We all make decisions, yet sometimes our decisions are not based on good information or from the leading of the Holy Spirit. Decisions are often based on information we have in a single moment in time.

decisionsOne of my favorite animated movies is Anastasia. If you don’t know the story you can read about it here. In the animated version, Anastasia comes to a crossroads and she has to make a decision. She is not sure which way to go so she asks for a sign. Like Gideon asks God for signs (Judges 6:33-7:22), Anastasia needs direction on what to do next. She wondered if she should take the road left, right, or go straight. She sings:

Heart, don’t fail me now! Courage, don’t desert me! Don’t turn back now that we’re here.
People always say life is full of choices no one ever mentions fear.

Each of us has been at this point in our lives. We come to God not asking for signs but asking the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us (John 16:12-14). Sometimes we obey and other times we chose our own path and fear makes an appearance. Yet God is faithful. When we are in those dark places where we find ourselves when we disobey God we need to reach out and return to Him for in Him there is safety (Joel 2:12).

Making the right decisions lead us to fulfill our destiny. In the animated movie,  Anastasia’s decision leads her to her family and the Russian throne. For us, when we make the correct decision we are taking steps not only to obedience to the Holy Spirit but to God’s purpose and plan for our lives. We may not be heirs to the Russian throne, but “we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him];… (Romans 8:17).

If you are at a crossroads and are not sure what to do or which way to go, ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you (John 16:12-14). The Word tells us that God has opened a door for us that no one can shut (Revelation 3:8). Take some advice from the Hebrews 11 playbook (By FAITH). Remember everything we do, we must do by faith.  So take a step of faith and walk through that open door without fear. Your destiny awaits.
