Being in pursuit of your purpose is important to God. God created each of us with a purpose in mind. One of my school assignments last week was to write a paper on my journey to the doctoral program. Because I often teach on purpose and destiny, I added a paragraph about how God leads us toward our purpose. I thought I would share some of that insight. I hope this blesses you as you continue in pursuit of your purpose.
You have been asking God to show you why you are here. I can guarantee you the reason you are here has more to do with others than with yourself. You are here because God sent you to be a blessing to someone else. You cannot succeed by yourself. God is a God of agreement. Where two or more are gathered in His name, He will be in their midst (Matthew 18:20).
Put on your armor (Ephesians 6:10-18) and pursue your purpose. The enemy will make every effort to stop you, but do not be intimidated. Also, don’t try to copy someone else’s destiny. God gave you your own specific purpose. There are thousands called to the mission field; however, not all are called to the same people groups; not all are called to start bible schools; and not all are called to start churches in foreign lands (sometimes God called you to assist), not take charge. God called Nehemiah to build the wall (Nehemiah 1), Moses to lead his people out of bondage (Exodus 3:10); David to kill the giant (1 Samuel 17:48-51), and Jesus as Savior of the lost (1 Timothy 1:15).
Ask God to reveal His plans for you. Earnestly pray in line with the Word (Jeremiah 33:3). Remember, God, called you to a plan so much greater than yourself. Jeremiah was called to be a prophet to the nations, even before he was born (Jeremiah 1:5). Joseph was told to name the Messiah, Jesus because He was to save people from their sins (Matthew 1:20-24). Go where God sends you. Are you drawn to certain areas of the world? Your purpose is geographical. If God called you to bring the Word to Madagascar, you need to be there, not in Hawaii. Consider how Elijah followed God’s direction and went to the Kerith Brook and found sustenance there (1 Kings 17:1-5), and again he obeyed God and went to Zarephath where a widow woman fed him (1Kings 17: 8-15). If Elijah had decided to go elsewhere, we would be reading a different ending to this story. Find your “THERE” and obey God.
God knows the plans and purposes He has for YOU (Jeremiah 29:11). Agree with Him, prepare, and start the pursuit of your purpose.
