Living for an Audience of One: Christ Alone

Living for an audience of one is not a new concept. In fact, if you search for it on Google, you will find books, songs, and references going back over 15 years. The message is different in each of these, but the message that the Word teaches remains the same. When we live for an audience of one, we live for Christ alone. We stop trying to perform for the masses and become aware of Jesus and our desire to please Him.  So many of you have performance-based ministries. You are constantly checking your performance numbers. You need to know how many likes you have on Facebook and Instagram and how many followers you have. It’s not about the numbers; it’s about obedience.

Contrary to what the world may have you believe, an audience of one has nothing to do with whatever you have to do to please yourself or make yourself happy. It’s about pleasing God; when God is pleased, you are invariably going to be pleased, especially if your heart is intuned with the heart of the Father.

One of my favorite songs is In Christ Alone. I like the Michael English version. I glory in the power of the cross, not my own power. I seek no greater honor than just to know Him more. I sing, dance, pray, and live for an audience of one.
