Vision: Seek it, write it, and obey it.

Vision is important in our everyday walk with the Lord. As you start this new year are you seeking to follow God’s vision or are you looking for direction from other sources. God has a plan (Jeremiah 29:11) and you have to discover and live out that plan.  We must be in agreement with God and walk in obedience to the plan He has for us. The evening news can’t tell you the plan; your favorite tv show can’t tell you the plan; your best friend visioncan’t tell you the plan; only God can reveal it to you.  We must hunger and thirst after the things of God, including the vision. Psalm 63:1 declares, You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you.”

Why do we look everywhere except to our heavenly Father when we need to know the vision? Sometimes the vision is straight forward; sometimes it requires us to take steps; sometimes it requires faith in waiting  for direction. Habakkuk 2:2-3 says “Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision and engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets so that the one who reads it will run. For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time.
It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, because it will certainly come; it will not delay.”

You CAN trust God with your life. He loves you enough to take excellent care of you. If He has a plan for you, He already knows the twists and turns, disappointments, failures, and victories that you will face. Yet, He still requires you to follow the plan. Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). If you have faltered in your journey know that God is a God of love and mercy. He forgives and helps get you back on track. It’s not too late to start again. Jesus gives us an example of how to seek God’s plan when He was in the garden when He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done (Luke 22:42).” Have a blessed new year walking out God’s plan for your life.
