Why? Has God ever asked you to do something and you wanted to ask Him just one question? Why God? God’s request does not make sense in the natural, but in the Spirit, it makes perfect sense. We are at that time in history when God will be asking us to do some things that appear to the world as foolishness, but as He said, “But God has selected [for His purpose] the foolish things of the world to shame the wise [revealing their ignorance], and God has selected [for His purpose] the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong [revealing their frailty].” (1 Corinthians 1:27)
As the Holy Spirit has been speaking to many of us over the last few months, we have been trying to figure out the ‘Why’. Why God? Why are you asking me to do this? Why God? Why are you telling me to go there? Why God? Why are you telling me to avoid that person and spend time with that person? We have all of these questions for God. These things seem like foolishness to us (definitely to the world); but who are we called to trust? God, not man!
I recently asked God a question about something He wanted me to do. I have been struggling to find an answer and here is the answer I received from God. Listen closely. I am about to reveal something truly remarkable (NOT).
God said, ‘Because I know things you don’t know. I know what will happen if you make the wrong decision and I am trying to help my people move into position for what’s coming. I am moving all of the chess pieces into place and as I move and align these pieces things in the natural will appear to fall apart, but in the Spirit, they are coming together exactly as they need to be. I know what I am asking seems like the wrong decision, but TRUST me.’ (Proverbs 3:5-6)
That’s all I needed to hear. I am TRUSTING that my God knows more than I will ever know. I am TRUSTING that my God is actively working on my behalf to provide whatever I need. I am TRUSTING that my God has a plan and that plan involves “plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
The next time you want to ask “WHY?”, go ahead and ask. God does not mind us asking along as we are willing to listen and obey Him. He knows more than we will ever know. It is critical that we listen and obey God’s voice for the next few months. Get out of your head, and listen to your spirit. There are going to be some things happening that we will not understand but just TRUST Him. He will not fail you.
