Worship is more than singing, it’s all about Him. John 4:24 says, “God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth”. Like prosperity, worship is a wholeness word. It not only includes singing, but also giving, loving, trusting, hoping, praying, obeying, reading the Word, and so much more.
It’s about surrendering our whole being to the one true God. We do not change God through our worship, we are changed. The act of what we call ‘going to a worship service’ is in itself a separate form of worship. Anything that we do, according to His word, to honor Him is worship. I love singing praises to God. One of my favorites is Oceans by Hillsongs; and I cannot get enough of Darlene Zschech; especially Revealing Jesus. I also absolutely love worshiping God through giving; and I do not mean giving to get; but just simply giving of my money and my time.
So let’s start each day the right way and continue throughout the day. Singer, Matt Redman, sings a song entitled Coming Back to the Heart of Worship. It goes like this:
“When the music fades all is stripped away and I simply come
Longing just to bring something that’s of worth that will bless Your heart.
I’ll bring You more than a song for a song in itself is not what You have required
You search much deeper within through the way things appear you’re looking into my heart.
I’m comin’ back to the heart of worship, And it’s all about You,
It’s all about You, Jesus”
Are you bringing more than just a song? Start and finish your day with a song, a prayer, changing a life by giving, speaking an encouraging word, or by spending time reading the Word. Because it really is all about Him.
