You are priceless to God. I had gone to corporate prayer and healing school one morning and decided to go shopping for an item for the home. Once I was at the store, I asked God, “Can I purchase something personal”? I got the OK to do so. As I was looking for the home item, I ventured over into the clothing section and I saw this top that was beautiful and bright, and I adored it. However, it was damaged with numerous pulls and snags and it was the only one left in the store. I picked it up and examined it further and thought, I can fix this and make it work. Then a thought came, you will not wear this because someone will notice the damage. Can you make this work? So I walked around in the store for a few minutes and decided to ask the cashier if I could get a discount because of the damage. She immediately said, “Yes, 75% off the marked down price”. I immediately said, “let’s do this”. I purchased the top and the other item for the home.
As soon as I got in the car, the Holy Spirit said, “Just like you loved that top with all its flaws and even damaged, you purchased it. Like that top, you didn’t think YOU were worth purchasing, but I did purchase you. I paid a PRICELESS PRICE for you! No Discounts and No Marked Downs. I paid the ULTIMATE PRICE! Yes, some even counted you out and thought, as you once thought, that you would never amount to anything. You even pondered, how could God love me with all my flaws and dysfunction and etc?” Especially growing up in a family where peace seemed so far away at times. Even in the best of homes you can still not be truly loved. But I made the ultimate sacrifice and gave my only Son for you (Romans 5:8). Why? Because of my love for you, just like you loved that top in its worst condition and was willing to buy it, I loved you UNCONDITIONALLY and bought you! Why? Because you are PRICELESS!”
God already had a plan for our lives before we were even born (Jeremiah 29:11-12). God had already worked His plans for our redemption, freedom, healing, wholeness, deliverance, and salvation through the shed blood of His Son, Jesus! So, as He redeemed me (and He’s still molding & shaping me more into His likeness) from a life of sin, He’s made all things new as if I had never sinned or fell short of the Glory of God. He wiped away all the sin, shame, and hurt and there’s no residue of sin or damage.
Now, my shirt isn’t totally perfect because of the mending I did. Neither are we perfect, but striving for perfection (Philippians 3:12). Guess what, I still love that shirt just like God still loves us in our imperfections. His love for us is far greater than we can even imagine! Never count someone out no matter how messed up their lives seems. Because as long as they have breath in their bodies, there’s hope. Above all GOD LOVES US ALL! He doesn’t like all of our ways/flaws, but He Loves US and there’s HOPE IN GOD! You just do your part, spend time with God and walk in love, mercy, and grace and let the love of God rule in every situation and conversation. You will see the love of God transform them like it did in us.
Back to the shirt; you can barely see the damage in the shirt and the snags are all gone. I had to work at it. The Blood of Jesus has totally wiped away every stain of sin, snags, and damages in our lives and we don’t have to work at it! Just ask for forgiveness and invite Jesus into your heart and ask Him to be Lord over your life. Now, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! (Romans 8:1) God will always use various situations to teach us and share wisdom, even in the most insignificant thing. We need to stop long enough to hear what God is saying. He’s always speaking, but are we always listening. There’s hope for everyone, even though you may not feel like anyone cares and you’re the only one left out there and others didn’t think you were worth anything. But like that shirt, the only one left and ruined, but I loved it enough to take it with me, even in the state it was in at that moment. How much more is Jesus reaching out to us at all times with His unconditional, loving arms stretched wide open, willing to receive us just as we are at any time, any place, at any cost! If you or I were the only one, He still would have sent His only Son, Jesus, to redeem us. As the scripture states in Luke 15:4, if you had a hundred sheep and one was lost, you would leave the ninety-nine to go after the one.
Let the love of God heal and mend your brokenness, pain, loneliness, and your heart. He is the healer/mender of the broken hearted (Psalm 147:3). Be open for the teachable moments from the Holy Spirit. Today really blessed me and I had to stop and take a moment to listen to the Holy Spirit! SALAH! Remember you are PRICELESS to God.
Hope you enjoyed another good word from my guest blogger, Eve Perry. As promised, I am working on my new book 10 Life Lessons from the Book of Ruth. I am about halfway finished and want to share an excerpt with you. Stay tuned next week.
