Opportunities Lost

Opportunities are abundant, but often we miss those opportunities for many reasons. This week in my daily devotional, I am reading the story of Moses and Aaron telling Pharoah to let the children of Israel go after 400 years of slavery (Exodus). The children of Israel had been praying for deliverance, and God heard them and sent delivers. Instead of grasping the opportunity to be free, they argue with Moses and Aaron and blame them for their continued oppression. They told them to leave us alone, stop causing trouble, and go away. That is a lost opportunity.

Let me tell you a story. Picture this. You are sitting in your office feeling depressed, downtrodden, and ready to quit. You have been praying for a new job, a fresh perspective, ideals, and witty inventions. As you sit there, you look out the window and see a multitude of people standing around on the sidewalk, looking up at the sky. You can tell that they are depressed and downtrodden as well.

All of a sudden, you see something falling from the sky. To get a closer look, you go outside and look up to see what is falling, and you realize that opportunities and new ideals are being poured out. Many people are reaching up and grabbing hold of these opportunities, and almost instantly, they experience a transformation. Yet, many are standing there and not making a move toward the answer to their prayers. What are you going to do? Make a move or go back to your office and keep praying. You decide to go back to your office and miss out on what God had for you. Why? Fear? Doubt? Unbelief? Do not lose the opportunities God sends your way.
