Immanuel: God’s Greatest Gift

Immanuel, God with us. He is our hope of glory. Where would we be without Him? I love the Christmas season. I love the smells, the lights, the decorating, and all of the ceremony that goes with it. I especially love the shopping. Of course, there is nothing that compares to God’s greatest gift, Immanuel. This gift was foretold in Isaiah 7:14 and fulfilled in Matthew 1:23, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel—which, when translated, means, “God with us.” That is the true meaning of Christmas Read More

Practice Thanksgiving Daily

Practice thanksgiving daily. I often hear people say that we should not start celebrating Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I say we should celebrate Christmas and Thanksgiving year-round. At Thanksgiving we are thanking God for all He has done for us and at Christmas, we are thanking God for His Son, Jesus, and all He continually does for us. Each season of our lives should be filled with moments of thankfulness to our Father. Practice thanksgiving daily. Here is an encouraging word from Minister Eve Washington. Christmas is fast approaching. I have been so busy with work and with other stuff I have not been able to write a blog post for a couple of weeks. I am way behind on working on my new book as well. I hope to get some writing done while on break from December 21st – January 4th. For the past two weeks, I have been putting up decorations for our Annual Christmas Decorating Contest here on campus. Merry Christmas everyone. Today at church my pastor preached about Jesus being the perfect Christmas gift. We are a blessed people. Christmas is about celebrating  God’s greatest gift, Jesus. You may have received numerous gifts today; however, I promise you, there is no gift greater than that of our salvation. Take time to read the story of Jesus’s birth in Luke’s gospel. It’s an amazing story of God’s love and faithfulness,  Examine your life. Are you like Herod who ignored this gift and ordered the death of thousands, or are you like the wise men who traveled far to acknowledge His Read More
