Seasons: Trust God in Your New Season

I am in a new season, as many of you are. God has directed me to go back to school to obtain my doctorate in Educational Leadership. So far it’s been an amazing journey. It may appear that God has abandoned you in this new season, but take a breath and wait. Listen, the voice of the Holy Spirit will start to speak to you bringing you comfort. Everything will be ok. Just trust and obey. I spoke with a young lady the other day. She had been engaged to be married, but something did not feel right. She broke Read More

Forever Grateful: Created to Praise Him

I am forever grateful for the cross and that He came to seek and save the lost. Giving thanks to God, for His mercy endures forever.  Aren’t you glad that He did not wait for us to cry out to Him, but He came looking for us? Aren’t you forever grateful for all that He does for you every day? Even the little things. I was telling one of my library patrons that God is not just good some of the time; He is good all the time. I am forever grateful about that TRUTH. I take nothing for granted. Not the air Read More

Focus: Game Changer or Plan Killer?

Focus can be a game changer for your busy week.  However, broken focus will most likely lead to disaster. It can be a plan killer. I’ve had a very busy week and stressful week. Our Fall semester starts on Monday and I’ve been working diligently trying to get stuff ready for the incoming students. This week has also been filled with meetings and more meetings. It Is Well With My Soul!

My thoughts today dwell on the hymn, It Is Well With My Soul. It’s my 62nd birthday. A great day to celebrate my life and all the wonderful things God has done for me. I recently completed a scripture garden in my backyard. It’s filled with plants, stones, an angel statue and a welcome garden flag. The majority of the stones in this garden have scripture printed on them. Some single scriptures like Mark 11:23-24, others are combined in groups to create the basic theme of the scripture, Galatians 5:22-23 (Fruits of the Spirit). One of the stones I created Read More

Goel: Kinsman, Redeemer, and Avenger

In the book of Ruth, Jesus is our Goel. Goel means “to redeem or ransom” and is rendered “kinsman” in , , , “redeemer” in ,  and “avenger” in and . The picture of Jesus here as Goel is both that of redeemer and avenger. Consider , Jesus not only died as a ransom for us, but he also avenges us against all enemies. Notice the correlation between redeemer and avenger: God redeemed Israel with the Passover lamb, but poured out vengeance on the gods of Egypt (). God redeems us as believers through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (), Read More

No Condemnation: Stop Condemning Yourself!

Here’s a great message from guest blogger, Eve Perry: No Condemnation, Stop Condemning Yourself! I was leaving a seminar on Saturday with one of the ladies from my small group and she decided to do a selfie and take some other pictures. She took a couple of pictures of me just laughing and having fun. One of the pictures was of me laughing really hard and a normal fun picture. I sent this picture to a friend with the thought in my heart, “this will make him laugh after a tough week and a rough day at work”. He was helping Read More
