Impressive Instant Pot Review

It’s almost Christmas day. I have to give you a review of one of the early Christmas gifts I gave my daughter; the Instant Pot. The box was too large to wrap so I gave it to her a couple of weeks ago. I am not a gift wrapper; I use bags. What is an Instant Pot?  It is a multi-cooker that does the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, sauté/browning pan, and warming pot.  It’s one appliance that can do the job of seven.  I was eager to see what it could actually do.

Instant PotHer first Instant Pot dish was Chicken Tortilla Soup. She placed the frozen chicken breast and the other ingredients in the pot and we were eating soup within 15 – 20 minutes. Impressive, right? Other dishes she made include spaghetti sauce (12 minutes) including browning the meat in the pot,  and taco meat using steak (10 minutes) and frozen chicken (12 minutes).

Being North Carolina natives we are very fond of East Carolina barbeque and we have a recipe we use with our Crock Pot which normally takes 8 hours to cook. In the Instant Pot, using the same recipe, our Pulled Pork Barbeque was ready in 90 minutes. I was very thrilled about that. Why wait all day when you can eat within an hour or two?

Overall the Instant Pot has been a great addition to our kitchen. We are often very busy and barely have time to cook a full meal except on the weekend. With the Instant Pot, we no longer have an excuse. There are so many different recipes you can try including desserts. I chose the Crock Pot brand of Instant Pot. The cost of the Crock Pot brand is around $50.00, which is $50.00 cheaper than most other brands. Consumer Reports actually reviewed the major instant pot brands. You can read the reviews here. If you are still looking for a great gift for family or friends, think about the gift of an Instant Pot. I am sure they will thank you and love you forever.
