Creative: Designing with Purpose

God has gifted me with so many wonderful gifts and talents. One of which is being a Creative (as a noun, is a person who is an artist, a writer, an influencer). I have spent the last few weeks working on new projects in my CREATIVEbackyard. One of the major projects has been replacing on old flagstone patio with a new design. I am in the midst of buying flagstone and laying out the stones. When I started this project, I thought it would take a couple of weekends and I would be done; however, it is taking much longer.

Thoughts of God constantly flood my mind when working outside. I often find myself coming up with different ideas and finding solutions to problems when working on outdoor projects. My mind has time to relax without thinking about what I need to accomplish at work.

As I worked on my flagstone patio, I decided I wanted to start another project in another part of my yard. I have a small, neglected flowerbed along my back fence. I decided to create a scripture garden in this spot. I was reminded of Deuteronomy 11:18 -22 (You shall write God’s word on the doorposts of your house and on your gates) or in your garden. I believe in keeping God’s word at the forefront of my life, not the background.

As a Creative, I am making my own scripture stepping stones for this small garden. I am looking forward to this project and in the future taking time to wander through this garden and read the scriptures stones I placed there. I know this will be a great place to meditate on God’s word and invite others to browse the garden and find a peaceful moment. Take time to explore what gifts you have and then use them to bring glory and honor to our heavenly Father.
