Keeping the Faith: Born to Taste the Grapes

This week’s blog is about ‘Keeping the Faith’. In Numbers 13:25-14:10, the twelve spies come back with some very large grapes and a story to tell. Did you know, you were born to taste the grapes (awesome gifts from God)? God provided manna for His people during their 40-year journal through the desert.  God does nothing without purpose.  The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our guide.  God provided for them in the desert because there was typically nothing else for them to eat; however, now the people must learn to trust Keeping the faithGod by working the land and sowing and reaping. This was a lesson from God on ‘Keeping the Faith’. The concept of sowing and reaping is a law of the natural world and was instituted at creation.  On the third day of creation, God commanded the earth to bring forth living plants “bearing seed” and fruit “with seed in it” (Genesis 1:11-13). We were given these plants to use as food (Genesis 1:29). Therefore, this concept of working the land for food was not new to them. God always gives us a chance to use our faith. There have been many times I’ve had to refocus my faith from receiving supernatural provision from God to trusting God to provide by other means.

When this happens we have two choices. We can sit down, complain, and cry or we can use our faith. I say, ‘Keep the Faith’. We have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to rely on. We have the answers we need when we need them. We need to trust God even when it looks like there are no more provisions; and remember, you were born to taste the grapes. I remember once when I needed money for tuition for school and looking at my bank account was not the answer. I prayed about it and God said, ‘Don’t worry about it. It’s taken care of’. I said ok God, I’m trusting you. When I went to register for school someone had paid my tuition. To be honest, I still worried about it, but God came through as He said He would. Each time God works on our behalf, our faith gets stronger. That’s how we ‘keep the faith’. That’s how we taste the grapes.

Yes, sometimes the supernatural provisions stop, but that makes us stronger. We have learned how to fight and to win. We have learned to face giants head on and we have learned that we are more than conquerors through Christ. We have learned that nothing is impossible with God if we ‘keep the faith’.
