Sweet Potato Pie: Fall Favorite

Sweet Potato Pie is another of my fall favorites. Over the years I have heard different theories of why we crave seasonal foods. I believe that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)and as such, we crave those foods which can be found seasonally.  Our bodies will crave those things it needs to stay healthy. Cravings are a great way for the body to tell the mind what it is lacking.  Ongoing cravings for certain foods may indicate a deficiency in vitamins and minerals.  Listen to your body.  Ever wonder why you start to crave root vegetables in the Read More

Black Bean Salsa: A Delicious Appetizer

Black Bean Salsa is one of my favorite appetizers. Whenever we are planning a party I tell my daughter to make this. It’s very healthy and you can make it gluten-free. Another friend has citrus allergies, so we leave out the lime juice. I have seen some recipes which add avocado to the mix.  The recipe is pretty simple and you can make it a day or two Read More

I wanted to share some great ideas and tips for outdoor entertaining on a budget. First of all, come up with a super cool theme. All of our themes tend to involve movies.  We have had a couple of  Souper Hero Movie Nights and served different types of soups with bread, salads, hot/cold drinks, along with something sweet and watched a superhero movie like Read More

Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

One of my favorite meals is Chicken and Dumplings (mostly dumplings). There was a time when I enjoyed eating chicken, pork chops, cube steak, and other meats. I cannot bear to eat meat these days.  Something about the texture maybe? I do not know.  I would probably eat chicken and dumplings every day if I could. My appetite has changed so much in the last couple of years. Some days I may eat and other days I do not want anything to eat, but chicken and dumplings seem to do the trick every time. Chicken and dumplings is a very Read More
